CLYW X LUFTVERK : Plastic Peak [FEATURED PRODUCTS from Tokyo Shibuya Store]

The “Plastic Peak,” a collaboration model yo-yo between CLYW and Luftverk, is a plastic version of CLYW’s first yo-yo, the “Peak.” Released in 2006, the original Peak was CLYW’s signature model and an important yo-yo that helped the brand make great strides. It still has many fans, and in 2016 the “Peak 2” was released to celebrate its 10th anniversary. A titanium version of the Peak was later released, and now, in 2023, the plastic version of this model is finally here.

Designed by Luftverk, the model is made using the injection molding method. The Plastic Peak comes out of Luftverk’s experience with the Plastic Fulvia and Plastic 000, but it is unmistakably CLYW’s Peak in appearance. It has Snow Tires Pads and follows the shape of the original Peak. After repeated tests of weight distribution and durability, Luftverk cleared these problems by increasing the overall size and focused on reproducing the atmosphere and beauty of the first Peak.

The Peak is certainly a good yo-yo, but it is a 17 year old yo-yo design. In terms of remaking a past masterpiece, the Plastic Peak is in a similar position as the Freehand ONE. Aside from the quality of the yo-yo itself, another way to enjoy the yo-yo is to learn about its history and background story, and to feel the nostalgic comfort of using it. Even if you don’t know the original Peak, I would be happy if you could feel the history of CLYW and the passion of Luftverk through this new release.
